@ Lauren Brumby -- we have tested the file again today on several computers and it is operating without a problem. As we mention above "This beautiful book is a 18 MB download; please be patient." If you have a chance, please try again.

I have to say, this is put together better than several of the books I purchased when first learning to sew. I'm sure a lot of people will benefit and be grateful for this! Thanks!

Hi Amanda!

To save a PDF on your iPad:

1. Make sure you have the iBooks App.

2. Click on link.

3. Once file is open, there will be a bar across the top of the document which will give you the option to open your PDF in iBooks. Open in iBooks.

4. iBooks will open and store/save your PDFs automatically.

Hope this helps. I love to store all my PDF sewing/craft tutorials on iBooks.

I am looking for beginning quilting tips.  The actual quilting part.

Please and Thank you.

@ plainjane - you asked so nicely! Sew4Home is not the be-all-end-all resource when it comes to quilting. You would probably get much more detailed information from a site that specialized in quilting. We have one basics tutorial you can find here: http://sew4home.com/tips-resources/sewing-tips-tricks/quilting-basics-pa...

In addition, you might want to browse our Bed Linens category to review some of the simple quilts we've done. You can navigate to that category using the Projects tab above. Or go here: http://sew4home.com/projects/bed-linens

Finally, we just did a great Guest Tutorial with our pal, Heather Jones on straight line quilting. You can find that here: http://sew4home.com/tips-resources/sewing-tips-tricks/guest-tutorial-hea...

Again, all our quilting projects are designed to be super simple. So as I mentioned, you might try searching other sites that specialize in all-things-quilting!

Wow! Just discovered this handy PDF booklet. Thank you. You have so much information and hints, my own mother cannot believe the items I am sewing, as she knows only too well what a beginner I am. But your incredible tutorials and inspirational projects make even me look so good! I can't thank you enough.
Huge hugs and kisses to you all smilies/kiss.gif

I just downloaded sewing basics. I took only a few seconds. I even double check to see if I had all 30 pages. You must have fixed the problem.

@ LilyThreads - just follow the steps: click on the image and it will download via Acrobat reader - so you do need the latest (free) version of Acrobat. Also -- as we mention above, even though we condensed the file, it is still quite LARGE, so please be patient, it may take up to 20 minutes to download, depending on the speed of your connect.

@ Christina H - When you post a comment it will appear at the TOP of the comments list. That way, the newest discussion is happening at the top of the page smilies/cheesy.gif. I hope you keep trying. We have had thousands of downloads of this file, so it really is there and working correctly.

@ Christina H -- We tested everything again just now and the file is fine on this end. Please try again, remember it is a very large download - nearly 18MB, but the file is not corrupt - all is well.

Thank you so much for this! Just got a sewing machine for Christmas, and as it's been 10 years since my one (and only) HomeEc sewing class in high school, I definitely needed help remembering the basics before I get started. This is wonderful!!

@ Amanda Diak - I'm sorry you're having trouble with the download. As we've mentioned in a couple comments below; we've double and even triple-checked the file, and it is working fine from our end. Although we condensed and optimized the file as much as possible, it is still rather large at 18 MB. There's a comment just below yours from someone who just downloaded it onto an iPad and we actually tested it on our own iPad, so it will work with this device. You could try quitting your browser, then re-start it and re-load the page to see if that will help. If you are trying to download wirelessly, that can sometimes be a problem with large files - if the wireless connection is interrupted at all during the download, it could show as a corrupted file.

@ Ginger -- We tested the download again this morning from several computers and, although it is still rather slow because the the file size -- there is a lot of information as well as a lot of photos in it, it came down without an issue. The little tag " click to enlarge" is merely a default comment. When you click the image, it won't enlarge, it will trigger the download. Because of the huge number of variables in both computer systems and their set ups, it is very difficult to troubleshoot from a distance. All we can do is make sure the files are working correctly from our end. They are. As I mentioned below - make sure you have a current version of Acrobat reader. And, you might check to see if your system is set up with any limiters on the the size of files you can download.

I also am having a problem downloading. I left it for 15 minutes and still nothing. When I scroll over it it shows click to enlarge not download.

@ Robyn J - We tested the download and it is working fine from our end. As we mentioned above " NOTE: This beautiful book is a 18 MB download; please be patient." If you have a slower connection or if your version of Acrobat is a bit behind, it may take a bit to download all the way. I'm at my house where we have a "two-tin-cans-and-a-string" internet connection and it took nearly 20 minutes for it to come all the way down.
