Get Ready 4 Fall: A "Charming" Great Giveaway

Friday, 31 August 2012 3:00

THIS GIVEAWAY ENDED 09/18/2012. THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO ENTERED.

If you love piecing and patchwork, you probably also love pre-cuts. If you're new to this world, a 'pre-cut' is just what its name implies: fabric already cut into a specific size from within one specific collection. Pre-cut bundles of fabrics have long been a favorite of quilters; but recently, all kinds of sewers, including the gang here at Sew4Home, have become fans. Pre-cuts shorten your cutting time and give you an affordable way to purchase an entire collection of fabric. One of the most common is the Charm Pack, a bundle of 5" x 5" squares. Today, we have SIXTEEN pretty Charm Packs from Moda Fabrics to give away. We've broken them into four sets of four to make four Sew4Home visitors happy.

Get Ready 4 Fall: Comfy & Cozy

Thursday, 30 August 2012 3:00

I love the change of seasons. Leaves kick along the sidewalk like tiny tumbleweeds. The early morning air has the damp, clean smell of freshly washed sheets. You can finally wear your favorite wool sweater without fear of passing out from heat exhaustion. Fall is wrap-me-up season, time to get comfy and cozy with your sewing projects. We've selected twelve classic tutorials that are sure to make you feel warm and fuzzy... or as we say at our houses: "toasty and bundle-y."

Today, we give you at peek at three new books we've found and enjoyed: Zakka Style compiled by Rashida Coleman-Hale, Quilts from The House of Tula Pink by (ah....yeah) Tula Pink, and Stop. Go. Quilt. Sew! by Angela Yosten. But the story doesn't end there, because we have an extra copy of each book to give away to three lucky Sew4Home visitors.

Get Ready 4 Fall: Halloween Round-Up

Tuesday, 28 August 2012 3:00

I have several friends who pull out their sewing machines just once a year: Halloween. They explain to me sewing a costume that only needs to hold up for one night is less stressful than sewing curtains they'll be looking at all year. I explain to them sewing curtains is a whole lot easier than creating a bat costume with fully-functioning wings. We have this argument every year. And every year, I get at least one convert. So, in an effort to capture more once-a-year-sewers in my creativity web, we've collected our nine popular Halloween tutorials plus three additional everyday tutorials that would be totally spooktacular re-done in some of the scary new fabric collections. Altogether, that's a dozen ways to make it a happier Halloween.

Get Ready 4 Fall: Back To School

Monday, 27 August 2012 3:00

I know in many parts of the country, school's been underway for a week or more. But out here on the left coast, we're still in the school-starts-after-Labor-Day camp. Our kids have a white-knuckle grip on these last few days of summer. To help you ease the transition from Summer to Fall, we collected a dozen of our favorite back-to-school projects. From organizational ideas to book bags to craft aprons, you'll find something fun to send you back-to-sewing.
