I have several friends who pull out their sewing machines just once a year: Halloween. They explain to me sewing a costume that only needs to hold up for one night is less stressful than sewing curtains they'll be looking at all year. I explain to them sewing curtains is a whole lot easier than creating a bat costume with fully-functioning wings. We have this argument every year. And every year, I get at least one convert.
