Make Fall Fabulous: Shoulder Sling Sport Duffle

Printer-friendly versionSend by emailPDF version

Do you have a team player in your house? Fall means football, soccer, cheer and more. Kids are hauling gear to practice... and maybe you're heading to the gym or yoga. Wherever the destination, our jumbo-size duffle holds everything you need and looks cool doin' it. This project debuted as a beach bag in our Weekend Wonders series with Fabric.com where it was a huge hit. The inside is lined with water resistant PUL - originally great for wet beach towels and suits, but it's just as nice to protect against grass-clumped soccer shoes and damp workout clothes.

Our thanks to Fabric.com for providing all new fabric for this Re-imagine & Renovate project. If you're not a fan already, carve out some online browsing time for Fabric.com. There's always free shipping on orders $35+ and the selection of fabric is nothing short of amazing.

We made no changes other than fabric when making our new duffle. If you feel you'll only be carrying dry items, you could switch from PUL to a simple cotton lining.

We chose two 54", 100% cotton twill fabrics by Premier Prints from Fabric.com. The top of the bag is Sherbet from Premier Prints' Fenton collection. The bottom of the bag is Sherbet/Gray from Premier Prints' Sprinkles collection. As we mentioned above, the lining is PUL; we used white 1 mil in a 60" width

We used the 44" wide Pellon Decor Bond for this project. Below is a link at Amazon, but it can be find through many outlets. This particular type and weight of interfacing is available in 44" width, but not all interfacing comes this wide. You can visit the main Pellon site for more information:
