THIS GREAT GIVEAWAY CLOSED 03/01/13. THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO ENTERED.
Think precuts are only for quilting? Think again! In her new book for Creative Publishing International, creative dynamo, Elaine Schmidt shows how you can make home décor projects, wearables, accessories, gifts and more... all using precuts. Precut Patchwork Party starts with the basics of the shapes and sizes available, the best tools and supplies, and general techniques. Then, it rolls right in to 18 inspired projects. Today, Elaine and her publisher have allowed Sew4Home to feature one of those projects as a free download! Plus, they've provided a copy of the book for us to giveaway.
We first met Elaine Schmidt through her book, The Complete Photo Guide To Ribbon Crafts. It was, hands-down, the best book on working with ribbons we'd ever seen. You can find our original review here, and the book is still widely available, including through Amazon
.
Based on her combination of inventiveness and expertise, we knew this new book would be a must-have as well. The comprehensive getting started section is fantastic just on its own. We especially loved all the techniques; Elaine's process always shows us an easy way to get a great result. Take a peek at her rolled rosette made from a jelly roll strip.
The variety of project options is very nice. You can make a trendy yoga mat bag from jelly roll strips cut into small squares and patchworked together. Elaine has good notes on balancing color and pattern.
Or, how about a set of soft blocks and a snuggly blanket that mix charm squares and super soft Minky?
The project we chose, and which Elaine and her publisher so graciously agreed to let us feature for free, is the Tisket Tasket Fabric Basket. This woven wonder is made from just 10 jelly roll strips. What a great way to showcase ten different patterns from within one colorful collection.
The project is provided as a downloadable .pdf file. Click the image below to download. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader, which is a free program. Be aware this PDF file is 2.8MB, so please be patient with the download process.
Since this sample project will only whet your appetite for more, check out your favorite retailer for your own copy of Precut Patchwork Party: Modern Projects to Sew and Craft with Fabric Strips, Squares and Fat Quarters. And, of course, enter for your chance to win a copy. Want another chance to win a copy of Precut Patchwork Party and see a tutorial for how to make that rolled rosette fabric flower? Book Review, Free Project & Giveaway: Precut Patchwork Party by Elaine Schmidt

I follow S4H on facebook and by your e-mails. I think I have kept every project in my Sew4Home folder on my computer. Whenever I want to make something special, I go back through your site and usually find just what I want. I work more with the fat quarters but I love this basket. I may just have to make one of those very soon! Thanks for all of your ideas and the great tutorials that you give for each project!! :-)
I love the Sew4home site. Projects are so inspirational.
Sewing has always been a huge part of my social life. Working on projects with others is not only fun, but educational. Some of my closest friendships were developed through sewing groups or classes. Now we look or ward to sewing get togethers on a regular basis.
I already followed you on Facebook and Twitter, but added your Pinterest boards today. My social sewing is all virtual, but it is very real nonetheless. I love the support and creative ideas that flow so freely in the online quilting/sewing community. Thanks for the chance to win!
I really need a thread-catcher basket and would love to try all the other patterns in the book!
Always liked you on Facebook. I sew & socialise in person at my quilting group once a fortnight, at our quilt guild once a month & at our quilt guild applique club once a month. I sew with friends sometimes at home & while travelling to visit blog friends around Australia. I sew & socialise through my blog by joining stitch-a-longs, Friday night virtual sew-ins and by blogging, commenting & reading friends blog. I love every minute of all of it.
Love all the wonderful projects, instructions and new ideas that Sew4Home presents each week. Always look forward to opening this email:)

They always get something else that matches it, so they have a set. I will definitely be making the Tisket Tasket Fabric Basket for friends & family. Thanks for the opportunity. I love all the ideas on Pinterest.

I don't do much "social sewing" but mainly sew things for my family and occasionally for my friends.
I love to sew, and love sew 4 home your patterns are great, keep them coming.
My sister started sewing a few years ago, and I've been sewing and quilting for many years. It's so much fun to have her to discuss projects and fabrics with, now that she's as enthusiastic as I am about all things sewing!
I would love to win this book because my sisters and I do a lot of bonding through our sewing projects and I have a grandbaby to sew for and we have 2 nieces that are having babies this year and we have a lot of sewing to do!! I love your site and cannot wait to visit it when I have the chance.
I love to sew and I follow many bom so I can socialize via the internet. I live in a very small community and there is no guild or clubs here. I just spent a fabulous weekend in Austin Texas with wonderful friends for our 40th class reunion form St. Ed's University. Now I see on here lots of things to make for them all. What a font of ideas! Can't waitt to get started.
What a great free project - it looks like the perfect place to keep phone/kindle chargers together, but out of sight! I follow you on Pinterest, too.

I take classes at mlocally quilt shop and get together with friends to sew when I can.
I've been teaching my adult niece how to sew things for her new baby! First time I've had the chance to "teach" someone, and it's so rewarding.
(I'm not on Facebook or Twitter, but did follow you on Pinterest. Hoping I still qualify! - Remember, not everyone participates in all the social media
)
I follow in all modes. I am part of a group of four members of our local chapter of ASG who meet monthly to sew and sewcialize. Our skill levels are very different as are our interests and styles. This weekend's activity will be a field trip out of our area to buy fabric.....and otherwise entertain ourselves. Personally, I am a big FB follower. I have found so many ideas and resources through this open source of ideas.
I'm very new to sewing - the only social sewing I do is with the woman who is helping me learn.
I love to sew and have made several projects from your site. I always post my projects on facebook and pinterest so that my friends and family who live far away can see and enjoy. If my mom or daughter sees something they like, they will usually pin it and ask if I can make it!!! Since I love them so much, I usually agree!!
I am not part of a 'sewing' group but rather part of a craft group - one makes scarves, one makes jewelry, one draws, you get the picture. We try to get together once a month to see what we are all doing and encourage each other in the various avenues we all work on. It's an amazing group with so much talent. I love the media we are privileged to enjoy but do add that Pinterest is crack for crafters :). Thanks also for being such a big part of this phenomenon.
i am following you via pinterest!

I belong to a Bee. There are 6 of us that get together once a month to sew, show what we've been working on and to support one another in whatever is going on in our lives. Lots and lots of laughter! Tons of fun as they say. I have also just started to teach a few classes. Never thought I'd be doing that but I'm having a ball. I have liked you on Facebook (can't believe I hadn't done that). Love your site and have made numerous things from it. Don't ever stop!
I love to sew with people who love to sew! Taking classes at my local quilt shop, participating in shop hops or even just taking time to talk with the staff at my favorite store are great ways to make new friends and learn new things. I also like Facebook, where the information flows freely and I can feel involved by reading the comments and leaving one myself. Pinterest in great, too. It's a whole new age where people who love to sew and quilt can glean ideas from each other. It's a wonderful time for sewing and quilting!
