Yep... it's been like the Twelve Days of Christmas here at Sew4Home. We happily shipped out one dozen prize packages to lucky S4H winners from across the country. Today, we officially announce and congratulate the ten winners of our Free Spirit-Rowan 10&10 Series, the winner of the Valentine's Day Layer Cake Giveaway, and the winner of the Elaine Schmidt book, Precut Patchwork Party. Our thanks to each and every one of you who entered, and our eternal gratitude to our friends and sponsors who make it all possible!
We featured 10 collections and 10 designers from Free Spirit and Rowan, then drew 10 winners of 10 yards of fabric. Our first and second drawn winners also each got a Coats & Clark thread box along with their mystery grab bags of 10 yards of fabric.
The roll of fame - congratulations one and all:
First drawn: Rina Mason of Adrian, Missouri
Rina taught herself to sew at age 11 because of a birth defect, which required she alter all her pants. Decades later, she's still at it and is currently a passionate quilter. "I think I was born to create with fabric and thread," says Rina.
Second drawn: Michelle Berkes of Chagrin Falls, Ohio
Michelle is the stay-at-home mom of five small children, so her sewing time is often limited to 10-20 minute bursts of speedy creativity. She loves the fast and simple projects at S4H, which fit perfectly into her active lifestyle.
Gilmour of Lapeer, Michigan
Her mother and aunt filled her closet with beautiful dresses when she was young, and now, Gilmour hopes to learn to do the same. We loved hearing that a prize from Sew4Home is her very first winning moment.
Natalia of Cherry Hill, New Jersey
Natalia plans to share her prize with the eight-year-old daughter of a good friend. The little girl is anxious to learn to sew, and Natalia is happy to pass along her skills and her love of working with beautiful fabric.
Debbie of Zionsville, Indiana
Debbie's husband claims that even if she lives to be 100 years old, Debbie won't be able to use up all the fabric she has in her stash. I think we just helped to extend her life by another few years!
Tami of Boise, Idaho
Tami started sewing just a couple years ago when she was 32, and has already become addicted. This year, she's aiming to complete a special keepsake quilt for her baby girl.
Ellen of Blacksburg, Virginia
An avid quilter, Ellen has recently gotten into home décor. After being in her home for six years, Ellen decided it was time to decorate! Her ten yards of beautiful fabric will be a great start.
Liz Torian of Irving, Texas
Liz is looking forward to hosting the holidays at her house this year with all her kids in one place. She plans to make a S4H apron for each of the women in the group (and maybe one for herself!).
Stephanie of Newtown, Connecticut
Our email of her win made Stephanie's week... month... possibly her year. She loves how S4H fills in the skills she needs to finish her projects, which she says are currently sewn in the pre-dawn hours or late at night!
Katherine Gil of Phoenix, Arizona
A newcomer to Sew4Home, Katherine is getting back into sewing. Her first thought was to just make curtains for the new home she and her husband are building, but thanks to S4H, she nows has a much longer list of fave proejcts to undertake.
Six wonderful Layer Cakes from six mouth-watering Moda Fabric collections arrived on the doorstep of Lorraine Rock of Marietta, Georgia. Lorraine tell us she is a "young 75" (yes... she said I could use her age!) who loves to quilt for her grand and great-grand children. She tunes into S4H on a regular basis to see all the new fabrics we feature and to brush up with our sewing tips. "I could spend hours on the site just looking at all the fun sewing projects there." Congrats, Lorraine.
The lucky winner of Elaine Schmidt's new Precut Patchwork Party book is Rosemary Rivas of Burlingame, California, a retired Home Economics teacher (an "endangered species" she tells us) who now finally is able to sew, quilt and craft almost full time. We're proud to say this former sewing teacher refers new people looking to learn to Sew4Home! Thanks - and Congrats, Rosemary.
