THIS CONTEST ENDED 5/11/12. THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO ENTERED.

What fun we've had during the past three weeks of our Everything Old is New Again series, sponsored by Fabric.com! We brought back some of the old standards of the fabric world: candy colored seersucker, delicate eyelet, rich linen, traditional toile, flirty little floral prints, and crisp white cottons. By unleashing our imaginations on these "forgotten fabrics," we applied their old-fashioned goodness in new ways in eight great projects, and provided you with some tired-and-true sewing techniques as well, such as shirring, fagoting and hemstitching. To help celebrate all these terrific and trendy ways to use classic fabrics, Fabric.com has provided us with a $200 gift certificate. That's right: TWO Hundred Dollars!

One lucky Sew4Home fan will be going on a dream shopping spree. To sweeten the deal even more, we're adding a S4H Bonus Bundle: several generous ½ - 1 yard cuts of Clover Mini Iron II, which we reviewed during the series. For a chance to win, simply take a few minutes to browse the Fabric.com site, then leave us a short comment about your favorite "forgotten fabric" and what you would make from it.

We encourage you to give these great classic fabrics a try. Fabric.com has a wonderful selection of all the options we used throughout the series... as well as many, many... many more. Always at great discount prices and always with free shipping on orders of $35 and more.

Take a look back at these 11 projects, tips, and product reviews:

Now I'm registered! Sorry about the repeat! I love fabric.com and shop there often. There are two fabrics that I'm loving and can't decide which one to pick! First it's Michael Miller's Peacock Lane Menagerie yellow - would love to make a robe for myself! And there's the Echino Ni-Co Cotton/Linen Blend Canvas Fabric line - so pretty for some tote bags! Too tough to choose just one! smilies/smiley.gif

I followed the link on your Heirloom sewing (by machine) article and rediscovered sheer voile. I'd love to a shadow quilting project using the voile as an overlay. Using bold colors underneath the overlay mutes them, making the finished piece look so dreamy. Some of the new, bright colors in Whistler Studios', Spin Swirl might work very well for this project. smilies/wink.gif

I would use the New Premier Prints Home Decor Fabrics collection, particularly the Premier Prints Madison Black/Denton fabric as my primary fabric and Gotcha Summerland Yellow, Gotcha Summerland Grey, Brook Summerland Citrine/Natural, Key West Village Blue/Natural, Gotcha White/Chartreuse, Ozborne Lipstick, ZigZag Lipstick/White and Loni Chartreuse/Candy Pink. I just bought a new “old” house, circa 1980, and need new curtains, valances, throw pillows, trims, etc. I would love to create and decorate my new “old” home in this vintage inspired print collection.

I'm new to sewing & just discovered Fabric.com through your site. The range of fabric and sewing/craft items is really impressive. Being new to sewing my fabric selection is pretty small so if I won I'd love to splurge and choose a natural colored European linen. I love linen... so classic and simply gorgeous. Linen seems to go with so many fabrics. I'd coordinate the natural linen with a mix of fabrics from Riley's "Apple of my Eye" collection. I'd use these fabrics to make a cover for my sewing machine with a matching pincushion, needle case, and a little bag to hold all my essential sewing items. smilies/smiley.gif

I found a great tutorial for recovering and refreshing old umbrellas with oilcloth or laminated fabric. i think that would be a great way to experiment with that type of fabric- I've never sewn with it before. However, I don't have any idea how well my machine would take to it, usually I use quilting weight cotton or flannel.

A forgotten fabric that caught my eye was ticking stripes. It reminded me of the mattresses at our grandmother's house. Perhaps it would be fun to make a comforter as a "wink".to the happy memories of sleepovers at Grandpa and Grandma's.

Michael Miller Plain Jane! The daisy print reminds me of some fabric I used to have way back when I was learning to sew, only mine was a navy background with white daisies and red centers. I remember the fabric but can't remember what I made! Well it was a LOT of years ago!

My mother in-law is teaching me how to reapolster an antique sitting room chair and I think UN-358 Premier Prints Indoor/Outdoor Jamestown Toile White/Black would be the most perfect fabric for the chair. Wonderful source of fabric, thank you so much for the introduction.

I love fabric.com mainly because they really work out for those of us that are budget conscious. I love the white fabrics lately because I can blend it with anything and come up with a beautiful quilt. They just make the quilts seem so new, even when using older fabrics.

A forgotten fabric I found on Fabric.com was the Micheal Miller Pretty Bird collection. I love that collection and would love to make my daughter some light summer dresses out of it. The prints and colors are great. The fact that they coordinate will insure great results. Of course, I'd have to get some Riley Blake pom pom trim or some Riley Black crocheted lace trim too!
