I made a bed quilt for myself. Its my heirloom because of the special memories it holds for me. I quilted it while recovering from pancreatic cancer 5 years ago. I plan on passing it down to my son many years from now.

my fabric heirloom is a quilt that was made by my great grandmother and my second favorite is a flannel quilt that I made that was made out of fabric scraps given to me by my grandmother, they were scraps leftover from pajamas that she had made for me and my family when I was a little girl.
This is a fantastic give away, absolutely love the fabrics.

What a wonderful topic! My Grammy was a master seamstress and made many items for we grandchildren over the years. I was the first grandbaby and probably got the most things and the most intricate. My favorite heirloom is a precious little dress that has hand tatted lace edging it. Grammy made the dress and the lace. I have an 8x10 photography of myself in it at 6 months of age and a 8x10 photograph of my eldest daughter in it at the same age. It's being saved now for her fist born daughter to be photographed in smilies/smiley.gif

Our family fabric heirloom is a tablecloth and matching napkins that was originally given to my mom as a wedding gift in 1955 from my grandmother's bridge club. And after so many washings, it is still lovely and so soft!

My grandmother is a very gifted quilter, so my favorite heirlooms are quilts that she has made for me through the years -- my baby quilt, one for my 16th birthday, one for our wedding.... all such treasures! Thanks for the opportunity to win such a great prize pack!

My Mom gave me a quilt she made while she was pregnant with me. It is totally priceless, and I did the same for my son while I was pregnant last year. A beautiful gift! (And thank you for the awesome giveaway!)

I have two - the first is a baby quilt my great-grandmother made, and "paid" my father with for digging a drainage ditch for her. All hand quilted, of course. And, one of my favorite things is she used pink gingham and blue material - but she must have run out of gingham, because one of the "stars" has a smaller check, brighter pink gingham. Love it!

And, a few years ago, I completed a fourth of July quilt that our family sits on to enjoy the fireworks each year. I love traditions!

What an amazing giveaway! The most treasured heirlooms in our family are the Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls my mother made for each of my children before their first birthday. The tradition started when she made one for me, fondly named Dearie. I still have her!

This giveaway is awesome. My favorite heirloom is a baby quilt my great-grandmother made for my oldest sister. (I don't know why I get to have it.....) It's precious. I have made aprons for my daughters for the last two Christmases and hope to continue this tradition. I love sewing with fun colors!

These are amazing. Totally amazing line. My heirloom fabrics are a hand embroidered handkerchief from my namesake grandmother and an antique men's Japanese silk jacket with painted lining. Renown designer Jean Paul Gautier was in the same shop in tokyo and recommended I wear it as a cocktail dress. I haven't yet but it's safe in the drawer!

Although I do have some quilts and garments I hope to pass down, I think the biggest fabric heirloom in my family is simply the love for hand-made things and the process of creating them--a truly priceless heirloom!

My grandmother made my mother a beautiful white linen and lace dress for her high school graduation. My mother passed it down to me and now I'm displaying it in my sewing room until my daughters graduate from high school...which is many, many years away.

My family heirloom is the Christmas tree skirt my mom made for me 15 years ago when my first son was 1 year old. It is colorful and whimsical. I use it every year. I hope to pass it on to one of my children or use it for grandkids in the future. Whenever I see a beautiful Christmas tree skirt, I think of mine and the fond memories of past Christmas blessings and look forward to Christmases to come with my family and friends and the second coming of Jesus. It sparks hope which bring joy!

In our family each of us grandchildren get a dutch boy & girl blanket known as our Mammaw blankets. She makes them for new babies and when you get married. I am now 29 (which makes mine 29 yrs old) and my blanket is put away because when I was a little girl, I LOVED it so much! I used it all the time. Not quite like Linus from The Peanuts, but I took it with when I stayed over somewhere, I played on it, used it as a cape, etc.! I looked forward to getting a new one when I got married 7 1/2 yrs ago, and for my two girls getting their own. My Mammaw's hand aren't working real well, so she will probably stop doing it soon. It will be a sad day, but I do have her patterns, and I hope that when that day comes, maybe I can at least keep us the tradition for my siblings and our children! But it is a cherished heirloom/tradition!

I don't really have any fabric heirlooms that have been passed on. There is one fabric treasure that I remember...it is a poinsettia tablecloth that my Granny takes out at Christmas. It was always covered with a clear plastic. I hope to have an heirloom in a quilt I just finished for my daughter that I had started when she was born. I finished it this month...17 years later.

My Grandmother was in a quilting bee, and my 73 year old father remembers running around and playing while the bee members worked. We have several quilts from her bee days, including two that are currently downstairs at my house. My aunt has even pointed out certain repurposed fabrics noting they were from a favorite dress or a work shirt. I hope the quilts that I make today for my family will be used by my granddaughters someday.

I am hoping the quilt i made for my son will become an heirloom, and he will pass it on to his children. Our heirloom right now is my husband's quilt his grandmother made him- i repaired it to be faithful to the design, because it has rips and holes all over! It was (and is) well loved!

My husband's grandmother knitted a beautiful baby blanket/shawl before he was born, just hoping it would be a baby boy. It was handed down to me when I had my son. In fact, my mother-in-law carried our newborn son into our wedding, wrapped in that very shawl. My son is now grown and married. I can't wait to pass the blanket on to him for his little one when the time comes.

My husband's grandmother knitted a beautiful baby blanket/shawl hoping that her youngest son (my father-in-law) would have a baby boy. Sure enough, he did. My mother-in-law passed it down to me when our son was born. My son is now married and hoping to start a family; I can't wait to pass the blanket on to him when the time comes.

All though my grandmothers quilt from the 30's was my favorite, I think the stocking I just made from Christmas fabric and othe vintage items has become my favorite. I sewed strips of Christmas fabric on a diagonal. I then added hand tatted lace to the cuff that either my grandmother(the one the quilt was from) or great grandmother made. This grandmother husband( my grandfather) used to work in a ribbon mill. I have bits and pieces and added 2 bows made of a plaid ribbon to it. Then from my daughters dress I made her for one Christmas I had a lace collar which I cut and used on the heel and the toe of the stocking. I embroiderd her whole name on one side and love Grandma on other side.

My fabric heirloom is a sweet quilt my grandmother made for me when I was a tiny girl. I am also in the process of making a Christmas stocking for a customer who needs one for her new grandson. All of their family stockings are similar in design and I was commissioned to make a matching one for their new addition.

smilies/smiley.gifI can't realy tell about any other sewers in my past family, I am a self taught sewer, I have taught my two older sisters to sew, and also I taught my daughter to sew when she was 9. by the time a year went by, she was makeing her school clothes. I think she is a better sewer than I. She says that I make a mess when we sew, so she always cleans up when we are done. It's funny, she just telles me to do something else and she will clean up. we are both Geminies, ying and yang. We both have an eye for bargan on fabric. but she likes the more dull type while I just Love the new fabrics and bright colors. Would Love to win something so stunning as that collection. Just LOVE the bright colord. Oh How many gifts can I make with all of it?? I would be sewing till my mess was so high around me It would be funny. But then I can come out with armloads of the best gifts There ever was. Guyie
