Great Gift Ideas for Father's Day

Printer-friendly versionSend by emailPDF version

Father, Daddy, Pop, Pa, the old man... he goes by many names and may have come to you by birth, adoption, marriage or simply friendship. Whatever the circumstances, the underlying sentiment is the same: this is the guy who has always been there for you with unconditional love, a ride across town on a stormy night, and a quick five bucks for a cheeseburger. His special day is coming up on June 15th, and we've collected ten classic projects we know will be right up his alley. Some are super-fast ScrapBuster projects, others a bit more involved – a full range of options to bring a smile to every dear ol' Dad.

Pro Chef Half Apron

The style is similar to the aprons you'd see at your favorite bistro. Longer with a slim fit and thin wrap around ties secured in the front with half hitch. We added a monogram on the pocket to make sure Dad gets his proper notoriety. And there's also a handy loop on one side to slip a standard kitchen towel, because we all know the pro-chefs are also the messiest chefs!

Messenger Style Briefcase

Current yet classic. This messenger style brief has good looks and smart functionality with a crisp, cool style that's right on trend. We went with modern graphics, using an unexpected splash of bright color on the flap. The bag would work equally well in neutral solids. At 2" deep, it's roomy enough to easily fit a laptop, iPad®, as well as standard notepads, folders and more.

Double Zipper Device Sleeve

Our sleek, utilitarian design features three generous pockets, each padded with fusible fleece, to hold a selection of devices. The inner sleeve is sized to easily accommodate a Nook®, Kindle® or iPad® Mini. Two 7" x 7" outer pockets can fit the smaller Nook® or your smart phone. The front pocket is completely sealed with a zipper, so it could also hold a wallet and keys.

Seat Belt Cover

This easy wraparound cover is not only perfect for seat belts, it's also great for briefcase or suitcase straps. Our design is reversible so you can make one side in cozy fleece for cold days and the other side in cool cotton for warm weather. Not only are seat belt covers an added comfort, they also help keep Dad's shirt or jacket from becoming a wrinkly mess on long drives.

BBQ Apron with Matching Oven Mitt

Is your dad an awesome chef or maybe a weekend warrior on the BBQ? Whether he's headed to the next Chili Cook-Off or just flippin' burgers for a family picnic, our cook's style BBQ apron and hot mitt combo is sure to light his fire. The construction couldn't be simpler, but the finished look is great. We added extra length to the apron, its ties, and the cuff of the mitt.

Sofa Caddy

Are they called remotes because they are always out of reach?! If Dad is constantly complaining that his TV remote has a mind of its own, this cool sofa caddy will keep everything right at his fingertips. The pockets have the perfect expandable gusset: big enough to easily slide remotes and more in and out, but not so big that things topple out.

Comfy Fleece Neck Pillow

Dad would love one of these little bowtie-shaped neck pillows for propping up his noggin when watching TV in bed or supporting his neck while sleeping. They're easy to create in just about an hour. Combining the comfort of the pillow with the buttery, silky softness of minky fleece makes this the ultimate gift; tell him it's from his favorite "pain in the neck!"

Wrist Loop Key Fobs

Dad might have a fancy digital key pad on his car door or office building entry, but the majority of things he needs to secure still use a lock and key. Our wrist loop key fob has soft faux suede on the back and a customizable ribbon on the front. Find one in his best colors or with pictures of a favorite hobby or sports team. You can even add a monogrammed tag.

Dresser Top Coin Catcher

Each night, it's the same process: everything out of the pockets and onto his bedroom dresser top. It's one of the most cluttered, easy-to lose-things-on surfaces in the house! Help Dad keep track of at least some of it with our clever shallow basket. The bottom is quilted with a little bit of fusible batting to give it dimension and weight as well as extra softness.

On-The-Go Key Ring Pouch

At just 5" x 3½", this little zippered key pouch will fit Dad's keys, cash and cards. There's a handy strap so he can simply grab it off the counter while running out the door. You could even tuck in a few dollars or a gift card to sweeten the deal. Fun and flexible, and of course, a classic monogram says it's his.
