Color. If you create, it's your stock in trade. The color palette you choose for your project provides its personality: fun, elegant, romantic, rustic... The list goes on and on, because every new combination inspires a new direction. Late this past fall, the innovative minds at FreeSpirt Fabrics introduced a new designer-driven mixer collection called True Colors. The first offerings have been created under the artful eyes of some of FreeSpirits Fabrics' best-loved designers: Anna Maria Horner, Heather Bailey, Jenean Morrison and Joel Dewberry. Today, we officially kick-off the True Colors Blog Tour, which will take you through one dozen creative websites who have had their way with the True Colors mixers along with cuts from the four debut designers' newest full collections. Projects... giveaways... and most importantly, inspiration awaits!
The general concept of "mixer" or "blender" prints is not a new one, but FreeSpirit Fabrics and their designers have approached it from a very unique direction. The close collaboration means the designers can bring their amazing vision and experience with color to the table.
These mixers feature the spot-on colors and prints that will be a perfect compliment to any quilting or sewing project, working alongside not just the designer's own fabric - but any fabric. Like a spice that can be used to invigorate hundreds of dishes, the True Colors collections can effortlessly mingle with past, present... and future FreeSpirit fabrics.
Anna Maria Horner's True Colors
The four initial collections carry each designer's signature style so they have the capacity to stand alone as well as blend with others. Anna Maria Horner, Heather Bailey, Jenean Morrison and Joel Dewberry each created five distinctive prints in four colorways. The variety is wonderful; you'll recognize some favorite designer motifs as well as brand new patterns. There are all-over graphics, whimsical florals, perfectly-sized dots, narrow chevrons, and elegant damasks to name just a few.
Heather Bailey's True Colors
Each True Colors collection is available as full yardage as well as precut bundles: Fat Quarters, Design Rolls, and Charm Packs.
Take a look at the inspiring video produced by Creativebug, which gives you a look inside the colorful worlds of these first four designers and shows how color affects their lives and their work.

Joyce Robertson, global creative director for Westminster Fibers Lifestyle Fabrics (a division of Coats plc., the world's leading industrial thread and consumer textile crafts business), underscored their commitment to the new brand. "The program is designed to grow beyond our initial offering of artists and will combine the best of the best with new, fresh prints to create truly proprietary and unique mixer prints with longevity in the marketplace."

The Blog Tour
Starting tomorrow, you can experience how eleven creative bloggers expressed their True Colors. To round it out to a full dozen, we have our own Sew4Home project as well, coming up this Thursday, blending fabric from Jenean Morrison's True Colors collection with fabric from her new Wishing Well collection.
Each blogger was provided with a complete selection of pre-cuts along with full yardage cuts from their designer's latest collection. They also received coordinating Coats thread.
No sneak peeks of the projects here... you'll want to visit each site on each day to see what they've come up and to find out about the True Colors giveaway each will sponsor.
