If you’re a regular visitor to Sew4Home, you’re probably familiar with our Re-imagine & Renovate series. It’s where we show you how new fabric can completely change the look of a design; the same way a fresh coat of paint can transform a room. The theory works just as well with the ten projects in our new Sew4Home Bags and Totes book. We selected one of our favorites: the Kid's Vintage Book Bag, and gave it a floral makeover.
How many times have you said it, possibly shouted it? “I can’t do that!” “I’m not good enough.” “This does not look like the picture!” We’re all guilty of the critical eye, especially when it comes to our own work. But here’s the real story: anytime you make something with your own two hands, it’s a success! Passion and creativity do not live in the same space as perfection and criticism. In fact, they’re not even friends. As you make your list of resolutions, we’d like to suggest our Top Five Things to Remember for 2017 (and beyond). You may want to write them on a post-it note to stick to your forehead.
THIS GREAT GIVEAWAY CLOSED 01/02/17. THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO PARTICIPATED.
Starting today, the hours of daylight get a few minutes longer with each rotation around the sun. Although we admit to admiring the blanket of white softening the world outside, we'll also ‘fess up to humming Here Comes The Sun under our breath. To help keep you busy, and happily humming, during these chilly inside days, we have three Moda Designer Rolls of layer cake squares along with spools of Aurifil’s brand new 80wt cotton thread to give away to three lucky Sew4Home visitors.
Where has the year gone?! Thanks to the debut of our new book, as well as all the exciting Sewing Escape events, 2016 has buzzed by in a blur. Meanwhile, our lucky Great Giveaway Winners have been patiently waiting for their much-deserved recognition and hearty congratulations. So without further ado, a roll call of nearly two dozen folks with very winning ways.
Happy Thanksgiving from your friends at Sew4Home! It’s a glorious day for family, friends, and food. But if you’re searching for an excuse to sneak out of the room before Uncle Tony starts into his annual holiday re-cap of the new traffic cones he’s added to his already burgeoning collection, why not browse for a bit on Sew4Home? We’ve compiled a few things that raise our “attitude of gratitude” here in the world of sewing and craft. Read on, and leave us a comment about what you’re thankful for!

It’s Halloween and we’re up to our spooky eyeballs in the newest and coolest the sewing and craft industry has to offer. Fall Quilt Market in Houston, Texas is a huge, swirling annual adventure of fabric collections, product innovations, bunches o’ books, and a chance to meet some needle and thread rock stars in person! We spent the last four days immersed in this wonderfulness and have some fun sneak peeks to share with you today.
Our debut date is right around the corner, and publisher Fons & Porter has given us the thumbs-up to provide some sneak peeks into our upcoming book over the next few weeks. We thought an excellent way to do this would be to give you hints about What You’ll Make as well as What You’ll Learn. There are ten cool carryalls, and of course, we have tips and techniques to help each one get a sleek, professional finish.
One of our goals for 2016 is a commitment to partner with some of our pals in the sewing community to bring you guest features on garment sewing, since that is not an area we currently focus on at Sew4Home (you never know what the future will bring). Garments generally require complex, multi-piece patterns in a variety of sizes, which sounds intimidating – right? Carla Crim, from Scientific Seamstress and Jennifer Paganelli’s Sis Boom eBooks and ePatterns, is here to help demystify the process of creating the patterns that come together to make something beautiful to wear. We found the techniques fascinating, and it certainly inspired us to give it a try. But, just in case you can’t see yourself making your own patterns, Sis Boom has offered Sew4Home visitors a 25% discount on all the beautiful ePatterns currently available in their online shop! Read on to learn more about drafting and grading and to find your coupon code.
